to change lakes. Motion passed. A vote was held between Lanier,
Sinclair and Alatoona. Lanier received the most votes, so our November

Much
discussion was held on whether the club should remain affiliated with
B.A.S.S. and the GBCF. A motion was made to stay in the federation and
fish the 2004 Top Six Classic, after which we will re-visit this

Discussion was held on the Lake Martin Family weekend. It will be held
the weekend of October 18-19. Everyone is invited to bring their
families and camp at Wind Creek State Park. There are a couple hotels
in Alexander City for those not into roughing it.
It was decided that there is enough interest to reserve a cabin at
Highland Marina for the Friday night before our West Point tournament.
The Lake Seminole tourney for 2004 will be the last weekend in
February. Andy will make reservations at Seminole State Park.
At the September meeting, Donnie Hendrickson proposed a rule change
concerning prospective members. Our current bylaws restrict
prospective members to fishing as non-boaters for the first three
tournaments (unless we need their boat). Donnie's proposal would allow
the prospective member to fish as boater (if he has a boat) for at
least one of the three tournaments.
Mick Keener's membership was reconfirmed.
Cliff informed the membership that officer elections and sportsman of
the year voting will take place at the November meeting. The December
meeting is for next year's officers only (no regular meeting in
December).
Cliff
collected some dues money. There are a few folks who still owe
quarterly dues.
Tim
held the drawing for the Lake Martin tournament. The pairings are as
follows:
1.
Eddie Privett & Matt Davis
2.

Order
will be reversed on day two. We will blast off from Wind Creek State
Park when Tim says so.

Cliff
introduced prospective member Matt Davis.
Cliff
led discussion on patterns and tactics at Lake Chatuge.
A
vote was held and Jody is an official member of the Peachtree City
Bass Anglers.
Due
to the October Hartwell tournament falling on a weekend that Clemson
has a home game, discussion was initiated on our options. A motion was
made to change the lake to Lake Martin. Motion was seconded and the
resulting vote was in favor. The October tournament will be held on
Lake Martin on October 25-26.
Andy
reminded everyone about the Lake Martin family weekend.
The
drawing was held for Lake Guntersville and the pairings are as
follows:
1.
Ris Cowan & Don DeHaven
2.
Donnie Hendrickson & Tim Griffin
3.
Cliff Bost & Mark Ward
4.
Mick Keener & Jody Newberry
5.
Andy Treon & Mike Sullivan
6.
Lanier Hunt & Eddie Privett
7.
Jim Norton & Matt Davis
We
are staying at the Guntersville State Park Lodge, and will launch from
the park ramp.
Donnie
Hendrickson proposed a change to the bylaws that would require a
prospective member who owns a boat to fish as a boater for one of his
first three tournaments. Current bylaws state:
g.
Fish at least 2 of the 3 tournaments as a non-boater, unless otherwise
needed and determined by the Club.
Proposed
language would read something to the effect of:
g. Prospective members who own a boat are required to fish
two of the three tournaments as a non-boater with an active member and
one of the three tournaments as boater with an active member as
non-boater.
This
will accomplish two things. First, our non-boating members will get to
voice their opinions when voting on new members. Second, we will be
able to witness the prospective member in action on his own turf (his
actions as boater may be different).
Please
give this proposal some thought as we will vote on it at the October
meeting.
Meeting
adjourned at 8:30 pm.

brother-in-law Lloyd Blanton. Eddie spoke about the Christian City
Orphanage and explained how to sponsor a child. He will bring
pamphlets to the next meeting. Donnie suggested that the club sponsor
a child.
Jim
Daughtry recommended the club enter the Fourth of July parade for the
purpose of advertisement for the club and Field of Hope. He suggested
that we could tow a couple of boats with our banner. The issue was
tabled since most members of the club will be out of town.
Discussion
was held on the youth event that was held in May. Some suggestions for
the future include holding a tournament-style weigh-in, giving away
more prizes, asking for more Recreation Department funds and have the
Mayor present.
Jim
Daughtry discussed lodging for the Guntersville tournament
(September). Eight rooms have been reserved for Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday nights at the Guntersville State Park Lodge. There has been
some discussion of having a golf outing on Thursday.
Cliff
discussed an article written on boating "rules of the road".
Basically, powerboats are at the bottom of the right-of-way list. In
the words of Jim Norton, "you see Cliff coming, you'd better
break out the sails!"
The
successful patterns at West Point were discussed. Andy caught his fish
on flukes and Carolina-rigged lizards. Cliff's fish were caught on
spinnerbaits and Carolina rigs. Donnie threw a Jimmy Edge Speedfall
all day, and Jim Norton also used a Carolina rig and a fluke. Donnie
said that we should have had a scavenger hunt instead of a fishing
tournament because of all of the trash on the lake.
