November 2004 Meeting Minutes

 

The November meeting was held on Thursday, November 4, 2004.

Ris called the meeting to order shortly after 7:00 pm.

 

Andy collected dues.

 

Mark drew for the Oconee tournament. The pairings are as follows:

We will launch from the Sugar Creek public ramp across from the marina/store. In the water by 5:45 am.

 

Elections for the 2005 officers were held. The results are as follows:

Discussion was held on the 2005 Top Six Classic to be held on West Point Lake April 11-12, 2005. We got a feel for who would be able to participate. Mick Keener was elected Team Captain and Eddie Privett will make reservations for the team.

 

The issue of awarding points for tournament participation had been tabled at the September meeting. Discussion was held on this topic and the pros and cons of adopting points for tournament participation. In the end, the motion was withdrawn and the points system will remain the same. (I.E.—One-half point will be awarded for meeting attendance, no points awarded for tournament participation.)

 

Due to the fact that there is no December meeting, discussion was held on having a January tournament and when the banquet would be scheduled. The results are as follows:

 

The awards banquet is scheduled for January 8. Jim D. will check on reserving the Wendell Coffee Golf Center. We decided to get a D.J. Mike Sullivan was tasked with arranging that.

 

We will fish a two-day tournament on Lake Seminole on January 29-February 1. Eddie will make reservations at Seminole State Park.

 

The Lake Seminole Family Weekend will be held March 19-20. Everyone will be responsible for making their own reservations. For information contact Andy.

 

Jim D. Proposed a pot tournament on West Point Lake on December 18. Those interested should contact Jim for details.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 pm for the general membership and the 2005 officers remained to discuss the details of the Board of Directors meeting. It will be held at Mark's house on December 4. Details to come...

Jim was late, so Andy called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm.

 

Jim Daughtry spoke for a few minutes about ideas for next year's kids' fishing event.

 

Mike Sullivan spoke for a minute about the Tommie Carroll golf marathon. Mike is golfing in the charity event and would like sponsors.

 

Matt Davis spoke about the toy drop at Falcon Field to be held December 11. He asked for volunteers and sponsors for the kids.

 

Andy led discussion on the successful patterns at Lake Mitchell. The majority of the fish were caught on lipless crankbaits, jerkbaits, and Zara Spooks.

Some discussion was held on Mark Ward's suggestion that we add points for attending tournaments. This was tabled for future discussion.

September 2004 Meeting Minutes

Ris called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm.

 

Discussion was held on the successful patterns at our July tournament on Lake Eufaula. Most people had forgotten the tournament, but Joe remembered. He caught his big fish on a DD-22 by rip-rap and his other fish was caught on a Carolina-rigged lizard on a ledge. Mick caught his fish on a C-rig also.

 

A motion was made to change the second-day tournament from Lake Jordan to Lake Mitchell. Some discussion was held and the motion passed.

Andy collected third quarter dues.

 

Discussion was held on the successful patterns at our June tournament on Lake Eufaula. Rat-L-Traps seemed to be the hot bait. Some were caught on spinnerbaits and some were caught on Horny Toads.

 

A motion was made to change the lake from Eufaula to a lake in north Georgia. Some discussion was held and the motion failed to pass.

Ris introduced Cajen Rhodes of the Peachtree City Recreation Department. Cajen discussed the kids' fishing event to be held on Saturday, May 15 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. A rain date was set as June 5.

 

Discussion was held on the Top Six tournament.

 

The successful patterns for our Lake Hartwell and Lake Eufaula tournaments were discussed.

Andy made a motion to raise the lunker pot weight to 7 pounds. Motion failed.

 

Our May tournament at Clark Hill conflicts with the Peachtree City Recreation Department's kid's fishing derby. Discussion was held on what to do and it was decided that the tournament would be moved to May 22-23.

 

Bud Whatley was voted into the club and now holds all of the glory and benefits of being a member. Congratulations, Bud.

Andy introduced new prospective members and gave them each a prospective member packet.

 

Andy paid Joe Schwering $70 for his lunker pot win at the February Lake Seminole tournament.

 

Andy collected dues and reimbursements for the cabins at Lake Seminole.

 

Jim asked Andy to review our boater/non-boater ratio to see if there is a need to limit or stop accepting new non-boating members. The ratio was 13-7, and it was decided not to change the current policy of accepting new members.

 

Jim lead a three-second discussion on the successful patterns at Lake Seminole in February.

 

Mark held the drawing for our March tournament at West Point. The pairings are as follows:

 

Some members will meet at the Waffle House in Hogansville for breakfast. Be there in time to eat and leave the restaurant at 5:00 AM. In-the-water time is 6:00 at Southern Harbor Marina. Blast-off will be at safe light.

 

A short discussion was held on the Lake Seminole family weekend (March 6-7).

 

Ronnie Hendrickson was dismissed and a vote was held on his membership. Despite having a 5+ pound average for the year, he was unanimously voted into the club. Welcome aboard, Ronnie.

 

The general membership was dismissed and the Top Six team had a short discussion on required paperwork and the team shirts. All Top Six team members must have their required documents photocopied and bring them to the April meeting.

Jim Called the meeting to order about 7:15 and gave the floor to Jim Daughtry to discuss volunteering at Field of Hope. The date is set for February 14, and we will be painting some block buildings. Contact Jim Daughtry for the details.

 

Andy collected dues and reimbursements for the January tournament lodging and food.

 

Jim asked for nominations to elect an officer in lieu of Cliff's past president position as Cliff is on LOA. Lanier Hunt, Jim Daughtry and Mike Sullivan were nominated and asked to leave the room. Mike Sullivan won the vote by show of hands.

 

Andy proposed that Mike's duties would include assisting the tournament director. Motion passed.

 

Jim led discussion on the productive patterns at our January tournament at Lake Seminole.

 

Andy discussed how our scales are calibrated each year. The scales are due to be calibrated in April 2004 and any discrepancies will be noted and corrected.

 

Andy asked to be the official weigh-in photographer and asked that the other club members help weigh his fish should he catch any. Tim and Eddie said they would bring their digital cameras to have as back-ups.

Jim Norton called the meeting to order at about 7:15. He led the meeting with a Powerpoint presentation that impressed everyone present.

 

Andy discussed dues for 2004 and gave a treasurer's report.

 

Jim led discussion on the proposed schedule for 2004. After a few changes, a schedule was ratified. The schedule is posted on the schedule page.

 

Andy made a motion to make the December meeting a BOD meeting only. Motion passed.

 

Jim led discussion on having a Seminole family weekend. Andy made a motion to set the date for March 20-21. Motion passed. (Dates have changed to March 6-7)

 

Ris led discussion on the banquet. It was proposed and agreed that we will hire a D.J. Each member will pay $10 to the club for the D.J. and the club will pay the balance.

 

Mark held the drawing for Lake Seminole. The pairings are as follows:

Prospective members Matt Davis, James Kelley and Joe Schwering were asked to leave the meeting and their membership was then voted on. Discussion was held and testimony given by those who had fished with each prospective member. All three were voted in and are official club members.

 

Jim adjourned the meeting at about 8:40. The top six team remained for a brief discussion.
