Ebetino Takes First Win
In his first tournament as a full-fledged
member, Scott Ebetino took the top spot at Lake Sinclair in
May.
The tournament was originally scheduled for
Clark Hill, but the club elected to change the lake due to low
water levels.
Scott only had three fish, but one of them was
a 4.52 pound kicker. His total weight was 6.80 pounds.
Second place went to Bud Whatley who had two
fish and 1.56 pounds. Shawn Hendrix placed third and Mike
Brunett rounded out the top four.
Ward Wins At West Point
Mark Ward is no stranger to five fish limits.
At West Point in April, Mark brought the only limit to the
scales and took the win. His total weight was 5.44 pounds,
including the big fish of the tournament at 1.65 pounds.
Scott Ebitino took second with three fish and
3.90 pounds. Nick Ward placed third and Shawn Hendrix rounded
out the top four.
Nicodemus
Bests Weather at Sinclair
The club fished Lake Sinclair for its first of two tournaments
in April. Due to some very inclement weather including
thunderstorms, only three Anglers and two boats braved the
elements (Tom Nicodemus and the club’s two newcomers Scott
Ebetino and Shawn Hendrix). Scott fished with Tom and Shawn
fished solo.
The three anglers fished in heavy rain until 10:30am then
returned to Sinclair Marina at the first crack of lightning.
At noon, the three took off again only to have Tom spin his
prop, and which time the “die-hards” called it a day. Thank
goodness for Tom as he had already sacked three fish which
took the win for a total of 3 fish and 5.17 pounds and big
fish of 2.55 lbs. Scott and Shawn did not catch fish. The club
is looking for better weather in later April as we travel to
West Point looking for the spawn and post spawn hawgs.
Bost Back On Top
March found the club on Lake Eufaula for a
single-day event. Cliff Bost showed the club he is the
"Scholar on Eufaula". Cliff had an early limit and culled
several fish throughout the day. He ended up with over 14
pounds and an easy win. He also weighed the big fish of the
tournament at 3.74 pounds.
Ronnie Hendrickson took second place with a
nice catch of 4 fish and 7.53 pounds. Third went to Scott
Ebetino who had a pair of fish and 5.15 pounds, while Matt
Davis placed fourth with 2 fish and 4.38 pounds.

Hunt Hooks Hawg
Lanier Hunt Hooked a 6.40 pound fish at our
Lake Seminole tournament in February. In doing so he not only
won the tournament and the big fish pot, he broke the
seemingly unbreakable 6 pound lunker pot. It was a good payday
for Lanier as it has been quite a while since the lunker pot
had paid out.
Lanier had 3 fish and a total weight of 9.79
pounds.
Second place went to Andy Treon with 6 fish and
6.63 pounds. Mike Sullivan took third with 2 fish and 3.45
pounds, and Cliff Bost placed fourth with 2 fish and 3.23
pounds.
Needless to say Lanier's lunker was the
highlight of the event as there just weren't that many fish
caught.

Mike Brunett IS the Weewee King
The
2008 season kicked off with a single-day tournament at Lake
Wedowee. A weak cold front passed through only two days before
tournament day, and it didn't look like we would have a very
good creel. It is January, after all.
Most
of the club was pleasantly surprised at how well the fish were
biting. The water temps were in the low to mid fifties, and
the cold front and bluebird skies didn't seem to have that
much of an effect on the fish.
Three anglers brought limits to the scales, four anglers had
four fish, and no one zeroed. Fourteen total anglers caught a
total of 44 fish. Not too shabby for early January.
For
the third straight Lake Wedowee tournament, Mike has
dominated. This month Mike had a five fish limit and a total
weight of 9.90 pounds. He caught his fish on a crankbait with
a little help from the wind.
Second place went to Andy Treon. After a seven month hiatus,
Andy came back and got busy with a limit and 6.19 pounds. His
fish were caught on a jerkbait and the trusty spot sticker.
Third went to newcomer Shawn Hendrix. Shawn had four fish and
a total of 5.94 pounds. Don DeHaven caught his first limit and
finished fourth with 5.89 pounds. Congrats to these guys for
their first time accomplishments. There are surely more to
come...
